Your uncle, the Professor, Doctor [Blanked]

was rather proud of his self-discipline.

Successful serial killers like him

must (he said) limit their activity,

finding advantage in infrequency;

both for anticipiation of the thrill

of snuffing out the lives of innocent

and random victims in whatever way

the murderer preferred.  Also, the kills

must not be perpetrated in the state

of one's primary residence or of

employment.  Rental vehicles should be

used for transport to and from killing sites.

Professor Doctor [Blanked] murdered only

during sabbaticals every two years.

Keen eyes and ears contributed to the

remembrance of each victim's suffering---

sufficient to amuse him in between

the isolated incidents.  Given

the nature of his research, his colleagues

understood his reticence to disclose

the locations he visited during

sabbatical leaves.  Now the Interstate

System had been completed, and reduced

his travel times (always at least two states

away from his home state), providing more

hours for the stalking and the brutal act

itself.  Although he hunted calmly---studiously---

he murdered in a frenzy of violence;

leaving in his wake corpses dismembered,

gutted and mutilated well beyond

all common recognition (fingerprints

and dental records only, when obtained,

identified the slain unfortunates).
