Build it huge, than run it hard, to take it down---
that is the way to enter History,
the only way to earn the laurel crown
that always favors real audacity
whether of good, or even perfidy.
Loud bells will ring in every tower and steeple,
if such a gift could glorify the German people.
If I could lead them---me, great and not vile---
they would with one voice shout, "Seig Heil, Seig Heil!."
shrieking this out with every breath from every lung---
as I constructed my own Gotterdammerung!
