She strings together pearls of wisdom like a warm smile
each well worn tear of experience lovingly placed in line
an understanding of the other side of Providence
she was a lucky one though her tale would invite otherwise
she's had no real loss or hunger not of the immediate kind
but she's fought raging battles in her heart and mind
she fought change and to change
any turn met with foul
but hers is a conclusion of a topsy turvy life
where freedom was gained too late to inspire.
But those pearls of wisdom smile
And she'd give forever to travel back down that path
and knowing what she knows tucked under her by her past
she now passes on with a warm smile
to any and all who still bye and by
choose to walk the same mile
and as they go she sits and waves, her pearls in a smile.
Oh to know what she knows now
