Memories haunt me.
They tarnish the moment
Steal it away,
And leave me empty.
Reaching for ghosts
Who gleefully taunt me
In flickering sepia tones.
To fill in the vacuum,
That now surrounds me.
Imagine if I could forget,
And never remember?
Wouldn't life be simpler?
Everyday new to discovery.
Carpe diem strictly enforced?!
No rearview mirror.
No pain, no regrets.
No loss only gain.
All joys and sorrow,
Strictly ephemeral.
Todays erased by tomorrows..
I need a memory surgeon,
To perform this
'Operation Amnesia.'
To remove the good times,
..As I always miss them.
And the bad ones,
For they still smart..
Just take it all away!
My history too burdensome.
Exorcise all angels and demons,
And let me just live diem per diem.
