The night, so cold so empty, screams with its loneliness
She wonders how she has survived it this long
The night brings the darkness, her mind over taken by his image
He sought her out throughout many a dark night
Sat and waited, patiently for her to come
For his chance to overtake, to over power to rip what he thought was his
She fought, she ran, she cried for help, she kept on going
Till that one fateful night, when she gave it all up
He came to her door and her face went blank she offered herself to him
She no longer had the strength, all the fight she had gone
She was ready to surrender, give up on this life and allow the darkness to win
She looked at him with tear filled eyes and said all right I’m yours take what you want
At that moment something changed and he left, she was shocked, yet empty
What would come of this night, what would the next challenge be……
The next day she knew, he was no more, he’d given up his fight
He’d wanted nothing more, than the light in her eyes the sweetness of her heart
That night he thought he had gotten what he wanted,
Than he looked at her face those eyes so blank, nothing of her remaining
He realized he’d caused that and what a gift he’d stripped from the world
He took his life in hopes that one day she would again find hers
She was scarred deeply, scared of the shadows , scared of the night
She was unable to close her eyes, the images so dark so all encompassing
She could not rest, she felt he was always watching, yet he was no more
Eventually the time came, when she was able to close her eyes, trust an embrace
Let that beautiful smile naturally cross her face
A piece of her forever lost,
Yet she took the chance and allowed it to let her grow
Embrace the past, learn from it and utilize what you know
Life goes on, safety will come, eventually the light returns
No longer does the night terrify, her eyes close with ease
Yet there is still that cold empty darkness all so lonely
With that missing piece, of intensity, of someone wanting you so badly
That they would risk everything, let it take it all away
To in the end loose the battle, and have to give up the fight
To allow the light return to the one, you loved so dear
Let me assure you love it was worth the fight
I thank you for returning my night
You have given to me a gift that most will not see
You gave me the power to realize
That there is nothing worth giving up that fight
This world is full of light, and dark and lonely nights
Yet if you look closely, think deeply those nights
Are a gift to embrace and enjoy, even if it is dark and lonely
The key piece is there is a night….. and your world is at peace.
