A Beautiful Place
She walks in the world goes dark,
She wears it on her face
In the way she walks
The set of her shoulders
The crossing of her arms
The darkness in her eyes
It’s like a cloud surrounds her
Her world is bleak
She can’t see the way
How is it she must go on
Life is not fair
All around her people are happy
Laughter is abundant
Friendly pats on the back
Great big hugs, smiles and joy
Why can no one see the pain
She smiles but does not believe
That people can’t see
All the secrets hidden under there
She works hard to make it a convincing act
But she’s waiting to find the one who sees
That she isn’t what she appears to be
There is a sadness, a pain does anyone understand
She is not the first, sadly she won’t be the last
Trying to break free of the chains
She feels forever trapped
It’s hard to believe she’s still here
She never thought she’d last this long
After all there were many a moment
That many thought she wouldn’t
Yet she found a way
To carry on
To keep the smile on her face
In search of something
Looking for peace
She slowly realizes it’s not peace she needs
Merely acceptance
It is what it is that won’t change
She has a choice to make
Embrace it for what it is
Or let it rule her life
There is so much to be happy for
Time to move on
Release the past
Enjoy the present it’s not the last
Everyday brings a new dawn
A new beginning a new chance to go on
As she awakes she feels the sun upon her face
For the first time it brings peace
It is a beautiful day
Perhaps this is why she’s still here
After all one needs to experience true beauty
The hope within a sunset in a new dawning day
She feels a strange sensation
It spreads across her face
For once it feels that it belongs
That bright shining smile
It spreads to her eyes
Then to her heart
It’s a wondrous thing
It has brought what she has been searching for
That feeling of peace
All from a simple smile
One without effort
One that truly belongs
What beauty there is in life
Now she can enjoy
At least for today
That feeling she’s been searching for
The world is no longer dark
It’s a beautiful place.
