There's a soundtrack that plays when you look back on your life
You are born, and it's full of promise, the hopes, the dreams of your parents
A life given in hopes of making the future better
As you grow, you become your own person
You are shaped by those around you, some will forever leave a mark on your soul
Innocence ripped away too early
Promises shattered and dreams broken, you are not yet a teen
Those years come and the journey begins, who are you? What will you become?
You set out into the world full of your own hope and promise, your dreams will come true
You are in control of your fate,
Than out of nowhere! Slap you've been hit with reality
Life is not what it seems, you rebuild yourself, new dreams form, hope is renewed
You are older now wiser you won't make the same mistake again......
Than smack you forgot to duck you are hit with a different reality again
You become jaded, you've forgotten hope , you don't know who you are
Then it happens, you meet the one who's worth giving your heart too,
You feel whole again, he is now your dreams and your hopes, your promise renewed
But silly girl you weren't watching, you missed that swing the damn reality hits again
Your heart is ripped in two, your soul has shattered, again you've lost you
The tune begins again, the promise comes, your soul is rejuvenated and you realize
You can be you, without him, without anyone
You rebuild, you've made great friends along the way they help you be you
You find where you fit in the world and are grateful for what has brought you here
Your parents are older now, they realize you are who you are and they are proud
The world is once again full of promise! Life is a rocky four by four road, where the bass is to loud and the drums beat on, yet there's tranquil moments
The whisper in the wind, the brightness in the rays of the sun, music in a child's laugh, love in an embrace, you realize moments are important, true friends are hard to come by
And though you may find one to share it with, it's still a solo
So sing your own tune, look for those that add to the harmony, don't let anyone change your beat and most importantly allow it to flow, it's forever changing but the rhythm will come!
