The night it is cold
The air crisp and silent
There's a secret blowing in the breeze
She's surrounded by dark
Quietly seeking peace
The peacefulness of sweet release
In silence she sits
Hiding yet hopeful
Alone but wishing
Hoping someone will seek her out
She can't fight the urge anymore
Her brain is screaming loud
Do it the peace will come
Yet her hands tremble
She still hopes someone will come
Before it's too late
Before her brain has won
She holds her arm
Studies it close
She's been here so many times before
It's a secret she has, yet doesn't understand
How can no one see
The proof is there hidden beneath a sleeve
Her heart is crying no
Yet her brain is begging please
Just one last time
She pushes down
The Crimson line shows her heart is racing
Her breath coming fast
Yet finally it's there sweet release
She drags it along watching the Crimson flow
So ashamed, so scared
It's the only way she knows
She hears her name being called down the hall
She stares the Crimson is flowing strong
Will this be it, finally someone will see
The strength she doesn't have
She falls to her knees
Weeping silent tears
She has lost so much
Shattered to the core
The Crimson brings peace
A knock on the door
Someone has come.....
Does she stand and open it, let them see
What she has become
Reflecting shattered pieces in a Crimson pool
Seeking sweet release
She sighs she feels peace
She responds... I'm almost done
I'll be right there
The footsteps go
She wipes up the floor
Pulls down her sleeve
And heads out the door
To return once more
To a shadow of her
Her Crimson sleeve
Hidden once more
