Counting the stars slowly
as they are lighted with grace
Tender smiles of laughter
and adjacent frowns on their face
I remember, when I was younger
I was like a star
so much light to shine with
The rapture that was far
is that all gone now?
no, in the sky
the narrow galaxy is small
and I throw my windows wide
A shadow of mystery
and a cloud of fear
can never supress the power
of the stars that twinkle dear
And so I am flattered
I fill my heart with joy
as I see the light i once saw
when i was a little boy
It shines more brightly
more powerful in the shade
as the skies are calm
and the winds begin to fade
The night is dark and gentle
the stars, radiant and sweet
So strive for patient virtue
never for defeat
