The evening never seems to fade
as I watch the red sky, in a daze
looking on, with a sigh
and throwing my windows wide.
watching the sun go down the horizon
and a line seems to appear
below the sky and above the clouds
a sudden blackness rushes near.
For the sun sets without control
running after it does no good
putting light into a dark soul
and rushing away from childhood.
Often I have seen it go
the days are shorter, and the nights are slow.
slowly sinking into the mist
the river still continues to flow.
encumbered in mystery forever
the melanchony night stares down
a violent red light comes upon me
and night eats the laughing clown.
