THE AVERAGE EVERYDAY NIGHTMARE

I lie awake,
Staring at the ceiling,
Afraid to sleep,
Afraid I’ll wake up screaming.

A dark shadow lies in wait,
A terror with no name,
Invading my dreams,
It’s always the same.

Running in slow motion,
Through hallways with no end,
Feeling there’s no escape,
Yet it’s something I still intend.

Waking up in a cold sweat,
Heart pounding like a drum,
It caught me again,
Now I wait for night to come.

Author's Notes/Comments:

just something fun I came up with when I was bored using the old steriotypical dream/nightmare sequence
