A
Single
tear I cry
for thee – just
one silver drop from
my heart. What was once
a great and shining empire, now
lies as a dark and decaying mass of
ruins. A dreadful, dismal storm thundered
across what we once had. That glowing promise
crumbled when the tempest roared: crashed deviously
through the hopes, the dreams, the peace. Your wicked lies
embed themselves in my quiet, gentle mind. The rotting stench
of your putrid breath reflects your foul, fetid words. Digging, delving,
defiling my mind. Your charred and blackened soul withers as more
tears slide by unnoticed by you and your shriveled heart. Fiery, flaming,
furious eyes burn into my watery ones. You radiate noxious fumes that
corrode the fair thoughts I had for you. Your presence pollutes my
world; your very existence erodes away my humanity. You drive guilt
into the very depths of my soul. All the bright hopes I had for the
future dwindle. What was meant to be just one tear,
just one tear to embody all that anguish you
caused, that one tear turned into
a myriad. My tears are all
that’s shining now.
