I tethered my vision; sent it away --
forward and back for the benefits made
possible by the gluttony of age.
I saw the same face
shared by each person,
ambivalent to miracles passed down
by a generation former and now
seen as archaic and lucky; endowed
by good circumstance
that happened on by
during a bit of rare providence we
feel is deserved on account of belief
in the inherent truth of our shared dream.
