I --- am a boy
Of no less than you
Amounting to futures
Of monotony,
And if laid to question
We may lose our heads
So we journey as teenagers
In pursuit of nothing worth our trials.
--- But if a change were to occur within us,
Would we accept it? ---
--- Would it return our faith to us?
--- Or would it simply tear us down ---
--- I am a boy and this town's filled with nothing
Everything still without a scratch or a sound
People come 'round but they're no one worth knowing
Just a new batch of faces to blend in the crowd ---
--- Nothing seems worth learning or finding out about
And it hurts to be so thoughtless in a world such as this
But we've been left to wander in a painted eggshell flat
With nothing left to long for besides the end to it ---
The suits are all frying in their pockets by their watch
Indulging in their weakness and the coin in their slot
No better than the losers who hang out on the rails
Taking in their borrowed hash and leaving vapor trails
I've lived here forever and I know it as a home
But I hate it like you do and I doubt that we're alone
It's keeping me from being or doing all I can
The sadness is between me and the lay of the land
