On the Sunday we walk a long the beach and you brought a neighbours dog, as you know I love dogs. And also this time of year there are no restrictions on dogs on the beach. While he's running along beside you, we hold hands and naturally fall in step with each other. As we talk you throw the ball for Raffles first in front of us then behind. This time we both look behind at Raffles and we both notice the footprints in the sand. They are not quite as romantic as bare footprints on a tropical beach, but we both noticed that the two sets of footprints were gradually getting closer to each other.
Suddenly the heavens open. And the only safe haven is the pier a little way ahead. We both run laughing feeling the cold water on the backs of our necks. Raffles thinks we are now playing and decides to join in.
Oops that's it. I'm flat on my back having been tripped up. Laughing, you look down at me with a look in your eye. Then thinking you are going to lean over to kiss me, I close my eyes in anticipation. I feel warm breath on my face but something seems wrong. I open my eyes just as Raffles drops his ball square on my nose. That's when you finally let out a laugh that you were trying to contain. You could see what was happening. And being mischievous you let it.
That's it! Revenge! In one move I'm up and have you over my shoulder because of your laughing you are now helpless but then you stop and you stiffen.
No No NO! You're not going to drop me in the water you scream. Teasingly I stand at the water's edge tempting fate with the waves. I start to spin around on the spot trying to get you giddy then I place you on the ground just as a wave came. Both of us run to keep dry but both of us are giddy and stagger giggling up the beach.
You chase after me to the pier and when you reach it I let you catch me. Looking into your smiling eyes I smile with mine. I brush the windswept hair away from your face and then kiss you gently on your lips. Hmmm so soft and gentle this time we both close our eyes. We can hear the wind picking up but it dose not disturb us. We hear the rain lashing against the pier above us but it does not disturb us. Then we hear the deep rolling thunder or is it the kiss?
Mmmm, those lips of yours. I wish I could take them back with me, to keep them with me, so I can taste them, feel them, kiss them.
We gently part looking at each other. Knowing what we want to happen but both nervous to make the 1st move.
Even though it's February and stormy, the temperature is very mild. I remove my coat and place it on the dry soft sand and taking your hand we sit on it together. I put my arm is around your shoulder you rest your head on mine. The salt air has brought out the sweet smell of your perfume mmmmm I do like what you are wearing.
Together we watch the storm clouds building across the water. Knowing that this time is not yet the right time. We feel we have known each other for ages. But we know, that when the time is right, we will be sure that what we have is lasting relationship.
