I remember how

It came to be

I told a lie

So that you could see

What you wanted to in me



I won't say what it was

That part is just for me



You were following a fan

When you hit a brick wall

And fell for me hard

And through all of this

We came to be



Not much to look back on

Instead we looked ahead

The only problem was

In the future you were dead



Why? I said

But no reply

Just meaningless chatter

Beneath the stars

Over the Arm



Said I don't know if

I can do this,

Futureless...



I knew you'd

Change your mind

But I didn't know when

And I couldn't stay to see

You hurt inside



So fill yourself I said,

Your body and your head

With something

That makes a little bit more sense



In your state I can understand

Why you took

The unfaithful stand



I scared you and even I away

With a bit too much

Rationality in a single day



But we had our times

And maybe you should know,

That I've had a whole lot more

And a million more to go



So here's where I sign off

Which is exactly what I did

I feel bad for not checking in

When I consider the state

I left you in



Somehow I have a feeling that

We're both doing fine

But I know you'll always remember

What we had in time



Not perfect

Nowhere near it

But wonderfully absurd

I'm sure you'll agree
