A young boy,
His chains begun,
Innocence already lost,
The damage already done.
The past cannot be changed,
More chain links added,
Dragging behind him,
Rattling and Daunted.
A teenaged girl,
Past redemption,
Beyond repair,
From constant temptation.
Too late to make up,
For everything done,
Something you simply,
Cannot outrun.
An adult man,
Married with kids,
Chain grows longer with each lie,
This chain that god forbids.
But it continues to grow,
Weighing upon us as life goes on,
All our sins pulled together,
Letting us wish it to be gone.
An old woman,
Her chain coiled at her feet,
As she rocks back and forth,
Knitting as she sits in her seat.
The past cannot be altered,
The chain still grows,
Till we retire,
Back into the cosmos.
Nothing can stop it,
But our own selves,
I just want to say,
Take care of yourselves.
Your chain will grow,
With everything,
Every memory and thought,
And the happiness that love can bring.
Chains are not bad,
Just simply there,
To show us where to go,
From there or here.
Which ever the case,
We all have a chain,
That keeps us together,
And keeps us all sane.
