Her Star

I sit at day’s end, my heart lost in tears,
Remembering our time, when you were mine.
I tried to keep you safe from pain and fears,
Facing your battles did our time define.
Others calls to give up fell on deaf ears,
As we chose, with hope, our fate to align.

So many times they said there’s no chance,
But how could they know, for this was our dance.

I sit at day’s end, wrapped in memories,
Remembering your love, sweet angel child.
Cradled in my heart, free from boundaries
Your battle now won and limits exiled.
When urged accept fate, we chose hope to seize,
So hope embraced fate, and for us fate smiled.

So many times the battle seemed uphill,
But they could not see your heart’s loving will.

I sit at day’s end, as twilight draws close,
Remembering our dance, when time was ours
And the song that we sang sweetly echoes
As I feel your spirit dance with the stars.
Others could not see the strength love bestows
They could see only the pain and the scars,

They missed knowing unconditional love,
From a small but precious gift from above.
