The sun rose bright and cheery, and I asked “Why?
When they mean so much, why must I say goodbye?”
She simply shone upon me, a warm bright glow,
“Sorry little one, but that I do not know.”

A gentle breeze blew past me, so I asked “Please,
“Why when I need them so, must they go from me?”
The breeze caressed me and softly dried a tear,
“Sorry little one, I’ve no answer I fear.”

Flowers bloomed around me and life sang her song,
And I cried out, “Love and happiness are gone!
How can you sing when you’ve taken them away?”
“Sorry little one, it’s not for me to say.”

As the day drew to a close I ask the moon
“Why, when they are loved, must you call them so soon?”
The moon looked softly down from her mystic dome,
“Sorry little one, I did not call them home.”

I cried out in anguish, “Can someone say why?”
Why, when I so need them, they away must fly?”
Then I heard, “I have waited as you did search,
Knowing you’d not find an answer on this earth.

I love them too and I missed their presence here,
But they’ll never leave you, of that do not fear.
We watched o’er you today as you sought graces,
Looking for answers in all the wrong places”
