Wolf's Cry

Howls, their loneliness can be heard,

A wolf, lost from his pack.

Seeing deer, lost from their herd,

The wolf pays no attention, no need to attack.

The wolf wants company, he needs a friend,

It goes into a camp, it will search till the end.

A man sees the wolf, and fears for his life,

The wolf jumps back and yelps, run through with a knife.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this poem April of 2009 to signify the loneliness that an animal can feel, and also the complete ignorance that can be shown by man in his failure to read signals.
