Moving Forward

It's hard to breathe when I'm screaming...

It's harder to sleep alone;

than when I'm lying next to you.

It's hard to think when I'm dreaming...

It's harder to move forward on my own;

Than it is when I take the drive with you.

You make my life that much easier.

Easier to wake up to;

Easier to live through.

Maybe a mountain to climb is what I need.

A hard time to make me strong.

I hope this won't last too long.

Pictures in my head of holding hands;

Surrounded by the soft breeze and Kansas grass...

Kansas City skyline;

Through a hole in the grove.

I held you tight knowing this was love.

Warm hugs over Colorado Springs;

The soft touch of your lips on Venice Beach.

Your smile on that rainy Chicago night;

Keeps me in the fight;

But my swings don't touch at all...

Jealousy comes creeping back;

Like thoughts of fights in Utah.

You need distance...

Like our drive out to Seattle;

Loving you, I'll resist it...

Of my entire life, my hardest battle.

You need space;

Like the open desert of Monument Valley...

Like the view of the Pacific Ocean out in Cali.

The waters of Shoshone Falls;

Run free like them, run your course.

Reach into the the sky like the pines up north.

I have to let you go;

Pull over and let you out into the wind.

The ride was fun but couldn't last forever...

Like everything else, it had to end.

The road ahead is dark.

There's a storm coming in...

I hate driving through the rain...

It's harder to drive through it without my friend.

It's hard to breathe when I'm screaming...

It's harder to sleep alone;

Than when I'm lying next to you.

It's hard to think when I'm dreaming...

It's harder to move forward on my own;

Than it is when I take the drive with you.
