Like a slap across the face
It leaves a stinging feeling
As I'm left standing in shock
Sometimes I just can't believe
What time it is
When I finally look at the clock
The seconds turn into minutes
The minutes become hours
That seem to float away
I get up in the morning
And, then, before I know it
There goes yet another day
The sand in the hour glass
Slips through my fingers
As the years go by too fast
And time passes too quickly
Because, sooner than later
The present becomes the past
If I could turn back the clock
And go way back into time
Into the long forgotten days of my childhood
How I wish I was that young again
Protected and shelter, wide-eyed and innocent
When all that my mother taught me was good
To know nothing of the cruel world
To be unacquainted with harsh times
To never have shaken hands with the clock
Because I just keep getting older
And the days keep getting shorter
As I'm left standing in shock
