butterfly

butterfly
by

you flutter on my wrists like a spring breeze
pouring the rain down from my flesh.
draining the rivers from my heart.
you set fire to my soul.
my body lay here in this tub of mendacity.
oh my butterfly do not assent from my wrists.
let your wings flutter till there is no more pain.
breath hemorrhages from my lungs.
and yet neither here nor there is the pain dulled.
the lights from the gable grow dim.
for even a mad horse running thru a burning barn
will stomp out the ashes.
oh my butterfly do not assent from my wrist.
let your wings flutter till there is no light again.
painted are the walls with audacity.
left are the chambered walls that seethe
with fragrant qualm.
the wind from your wings cools
no longer are there pins and needles.
calming silence only the sound of your wings prevail.
alas the tub has drained
the amber subsided
oh butterfly do not assent from my wrists.
let your wings flutter till there is no more...
