SIX LITTLE CHILDREN (A true story)

To all those who lost their lives in the Earthquake that ripped Pakist

Six little children, hid beneath their desk

Waiting to be found

Time stood still

No one came around

Six little children, hid beneath their desk

They were brave and did not cry

Hope flickered to despair

Nobody knew where to try

Six little children, hid beneath their desk

In pitch black darkness praying

Daddy, mummy, where have you gone

Can you not hear us, calling?

Six little children, hid beneath their desk

No one knew of their plight

People went about their chores

They began to lose the fight

Six little children, hid beneath their desk

No water, no food, no light nothing at all

The world watched in silence

No one heard them call

Six little children, hid beneath their desk

Seeking shelter in vain

Alas! One of many true tales

Of anguish, unbearable pain

Six little children, hid beneath their desk

Waiting to be found

Time stood still

No one came around

Author's Notes/Comments:

Dear friends this is just a single account of the tragedy that has struck a poor nation. These children were found under the desk where they tried to take shelter when the roof of their school collapsed. They were found five days later dead. It is so tragic and so are many others. The world has united to help those innocent victims. I appeal to you my fellow poets in these trying times to show your support and love for those who are devastated, homeless, without food, water and shelter. I would welcome any suggestion from my most respected friends, senior poets and poetesses. Love and blessings. "
