I watch from the top floor
As darkness falls
The sparkling bracelet of yellow
Wraps round the Swansea bay
The waves sing their lullaby
As the city prepares to sleep
A relative calm prevails
The hospital too sails into the night
And responsibility descends mist like
Rests heavy as this ship I steer
The hum from the air cons
Fills up the lighted corridors
Oscillating in rhythm
I wander from ward to ward
The night staff work like elves
Silently and swiftly
They weave their magic
Helping those in need
Far in the distance
A monitor sings the sonnet
Of a heart now grown weak
Life in hushed tones
Singleton hospital at night
