It has been a busy day
Busier than the supermarkets
Where people leave behind
Empty shelves
Like unfulfilled expectations
Whenever festive season comes around
It is cosy
At least in here
First patient
Young girl
Appendictis, consented, booked, laparoscopic please
Aspiring to be a model
Lonely lady mid fifties
Abdominal pain, non-specific, obese
Needs to learn the season’s spirit of sharing
The log fire crackles
Stockings by the
hearth
Trauma call at twenty to two
Young man tail gating, high speed,
Destination; ITU
Family concerned, news sinking slowly
Elderly lady
Dementic, fell down the stairs, stable
Believes in ghost of Christmas present
Unsure of the past
Mrs Terantino (not pulp fiction fame) returns,
Young lass, with the fairies
Opiates are magic
Smoker, unkempt
Peripheral vascular disease
Limbs colder than the weather outside
Do you think it will be
white?
The Christmas
Our Mr J,
Hernia reduced, comfortable
Looking forward to a Christmas dinner
Lights on the Christmas
tree brightly glow
In the distance the
sound of carols grow
Last but not the least
GP’s call, cry wolf
Non leaking Abdominal aortic aneurysm
Turkey in the oven
Mistletoe and wine
Its quiet outside
Did anyone hear?
First flakes of snow
A BEAUTIFUL COMPOSITION
They art with which you combine your medical role with your poetic heart and soul....it is indeed a rare gift of God Almighty. Not everyone can do this. I read this poem with more attention and seriousness tonight and believe me it has moved me a lot. MashaAllah. I wish you all the best my dear friend.
