Question-1:

Do you consider yourself as a Cambridge teacher? Write an reflective report mentioning all the points.

Answer:

I teach A-level students under CIE syllabus. For this reason I had to modulate myself according to that syllabus and I am a candidate for SDiTL training course arranged for the teachers by SPEED which helps me to adapt myself with the curriculum and makes a clear concept about teaching philosophy. On the basis of the characteristics of a CIE teacher, the following qualities are mentioned and illustrated below-

1.           Confident: I am always confident. I do prepare lectures from books, nets, question papers etc. I prepare maths by myself and check the eligibility to the class. I do discuss the theories in such a way that the students clearly understand the topic and can apply them individually.

2.           Responsible: I am a responsible teacher. I take care of them and try to differentiate them before lecturing. I prepare and arrange the lecture materials according to the differentiation. I do take notes on the specific needs of my learners.

3.           Reflective: I am not lacking behind this quality. Whenever I face any challenge, I try to judge the issue by myself first. Then I talk to mentor and also with the senior colleagues regarding them. I sort out the problems and try to solve them before taking another class.

4.           Responsive: while taking class I need to take care of 25 adult students at a time and also need to take care about their learning needs and challenges. While lecturing the students sometimes ask questions of different magnitude. I try to answer them all according to their need. If any answer is not prepared with me, I do admit it with the students, take note on the matter and discuss it the next day after taking preparation on it.

5.           Developing: Yes I am a developing teacher from both teaching and learning viewpoint. Every time I do try to learn something from my mistakes. I try to execute my works from reflection and feedback from learners, mentor and stake holders.

6.           Innovative: I am innovative in a multidirectional ways. I do tey to give lecture and prepare my resources in such a way that all the students can easily understand. I research on the topic, and try to come out with a solution that the students can apply not in a lengthy traditional way but in an innovative short-cuts.

7.           Engaged: in my class I have different students with different needs. Some are high achievers and while some are slow learners. So, I need to prepare some extra and challenging maths so that, while the slow learners are engaging in the regular class works, as well as the high achievers and kinesthetic learners are busy solving challenging tasks.
