I felt the mist of the evening surround me comfortably. I was walking from the docks to my house, which was only a few blocks away. The air was cool and thin, the breeze blew lightly pushing my hair out of my face. I smelt the salty sea. I look to my right and admire the ocean as the moonlight danced on its surface.
There wasn't anybody outside tonight. I thought of that as strange, considering it was only around 10 o'clock pm on a friday night. I'm sure everyone had there reasons.
I felt awkward. I wish someone were with me. It just seemed eerie; walking alone in the darkness. I couldn't help but fear that someone was watching me. With only the light from the moon and a few street lights, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if I tried. I knew it was normal to feel like that, so I just kept walking.
Then I felt it. Someone was staring at me, I knew it for sure. I felt a rush of fear pour through my body. I look up to meet the gaze of Constance for the second time this week. Her eyes were burning like alcohol on an open wound.
If looks could kill, I would be dead right now. Her eyes stood wide open, with pupils the size of pinheads.
Other than her eyes, her face was completely calm.
She walks over to me at a normal pace, and she puts her hand out and strokes through my hair. "You're so beautiful Marcella."
I couldn't be more scared. I was afraid to move, I was afraid to speak, I was afraid to breathe. Why did she scare me so much? I am taller than she is, for certain I am in better shape. Her hands were ice cold and sent a series of chills down my body.
She spoke again "You look exactly like your father..." she trailed off and went into deep thought. Her expression of clamness changed within seconds. Anger filled her eyes, and I felt a yank on my hair.
I screamed and held where she had pulled. As I was recovering she said "You are just like your father! A coward! I would never hurt you Victoria! I love you!"
I look up to meet her stare. Just as I did, her hand met my cheek with great force. That hurt me. I looked up again, hoping my head wouldn't suffer anymore damage. She had backed up while I had been holding my face.
She walked towards me slowly. "I cared for you for seven years....I helped you for seven years. What did you and your dad do? You left me."
Tears of pain rolled down from my eyes, as she had been walking foward, I had been walking backwards. She had advanced too quick for my reaction though because she was a foot in front of me.
"WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME?" She screamed and pushed me down.
My head hit the sidewalk hard. I supported my back from my elbows, but couldn't seem to sit up any further than that. She came towards me again, with a sick twisted smile on her face. I was fully crying by now, but quietly. That only made her smile more.
As she came close enough to step on me, she did. She slowly put all of her weight and pressed down as hard as she could on my knee. Next, I heard a loud cracking sound.
I screamed in the pain she just caused. The pain didn't stay in my leg, it traveled throughout my body. I was crying so loud I'm surprised the next town didn't hear me. I held my leg and rocked back and forth on the ground.
When I opened my eyes, even with tears in them I saw her smiling with satisfactory. Her arms crossed, her head held high. I think she might have giggled.
I suddenly gasped for breath as I woke up from this dream. When I realized I was in my bed and all the lights were off, as opposed to the world just went dead. I noticed I was actually holding my leg in both of my arms. I really did feel pain in it too. There really was tear rolling down my face. I tried to get out of bed, but I fell. My leg felt like someone hit it with a hammer. I sat in my floor, held my leg and cried until someone could find me.
