Thoughts on Thinking

Folder:
2002

You're not who you think you are,

Or at least that's what everyone thinks about you.

No one's really thought for themselves thus far,

For their minds were instilled with what someone else thought was true.

Some think too much, some don't think enough;

Hell, it's a miracle that we even think at all.

Most of us think about ourselves when the going gets tough,

And when we think we're okay, we're poised to fall.

You think we think we're all going insane,

But I think we've done that already, and you just don't know it.

I think you concern yourself with things that are mundane,

But you think I'm crazy, and I just don't show it.

We think our names and jobs are from what our importance derives,

But I think who's important are those with money and power;

We think we have control over every aspect of our lives,

But our bosses can tell us to be packed and gone in an hour.

We us ten percent of our brains to think at any one time;

Some of us have gained access to the other ninety percent.

Imagine the theories and ideas we could come up with in time

If we thought outside the box with original intent.

Some of us think logically, and some just don't want to.

Some of us are orginal thinkers, like Oppenheimer and Einstein;

Most of us are finding what they thought to be true,

And yet all of us think their ideas crossed the line.

Personally, I think whatever I want to, on my own,

Only casually interested in what other people are thinking.

Just like Rodin's sculpture, sitting on his bronze throne,

Just thinking, thinking, thinking...thinking...
