As the sunsets for another day

I am reminded of the beauty in my world

To live, be free and happy

To have health and those around me

It is so easy for me

to crawl back into the darkness

of my sadness

To let the pain rest in my heart

and soul

However to be happy

to find my light

on my own terms

is a daily and often hourly

struggle

To let my sadness slip between my fingers

might be what God is telling me to do.

To let it go

Release it into the abyss

Maybe then my heart will warm up

and be ready to receive you

when you walk into our door

and back into my arms.
