Why did I come out here to this unfair stagnant place
Where the transient lost souls all have an apathetic taste
I thought the journey out would bring me closer to my dreams
But each passing day brings only cold and choked back stifled screams
And in the burning sunlight my pale skin absorbs too much
When the only warmth I need is from my true loves caring touch
Yet when I seek that truth, that love, the escape from feeling all alone
My darkened angels love embrace feels coarse, not flesh at all but bone
The reaper leads me through my days, her cold grip on my hand
Down the isle bearing witness to a black and dying land
