Where Soul Must Go

Where lies the heart where soul must go?
Where stands the peace that memory knows?
In tossed rejection of soiled perfection
Lies the truth that has been wished away.
I am a solitary diamond on a strand of string
Dangling on a hopeful promise of happy glee;
Knowing that the smiles do not reflect me.

Oceans bellow out in anger, thunder arises.
Life is measured in distant forms of surprises
Which do not ensure the comfort of arrival.
I move ahead, but in reality look backwards
To formless images which are not understood.
And like a dangling rope of decaying wood,
I arrive to emptiness, neither bad or good.

Thrusting forces of anger which captivate,
I bend my will and like a penitent wait
For the words which shall relapse me from
The daring pinnacles of this mountain top.
Floods may join the meandering mud,
But I am as dirty as the soul in sin
Wasting breath on perceptions held within.

Truth is never a statement of perfection,
For such is the timbre of ultimate rejection.
And like a stone I wither into a wall.
Pretending that all is well with the world.
When in fact the chasms seem to increase
With each and every puzzle that is undone.
I am sorrow held within a beating drum.

Stay away from this lost child of yesterday,
For nothing remains that I am fit to say.
Locked forever from the rooms of joy,
I scatter my marbles on the floor
And play games within my solitary zone.
Alone, I am everything I was looking for.
Alone, I am struggling, but there's nothing more.
