If gold is the sweat of the sun
And silver the tears of the moon
Then jade are my feelings for you
For jaded feelings came so soon.
I rightly wear jade and silver
For night time often makes me cry.
I am lost in splendid sorrow
Whenever the bright moon looms nigh.
..Memories of our grand passion,
Of loving to self's distraction,
For which I'd crawl on burning sands,
Sell my soul for its protraction...
Forever gone are girlhood dreams.
Now all illusions are shattered-
Love and marriage and happiness
And true commitment that mattered.
It's great forces of fire and wind,
Sea and sky -eternal conflict,
Good and evil, present and past
Hate that some love seems to inflict!
Oh! for the rain after a drought
The spring air after winter's cold-
But that astounding gift is gone
So it's silver and jade, not gold.
