I seek beauty everywhere-
I like to be surrounded.
All my senses are attuned.
I need it, to be grounded.
I may see it in a tree
Or even a small pebble-
If it is unusual
My joy may even treble.
I may smell it in the air
Following a recent storm.
I may feel it in smooth fur
As I stroke a cat's lithe form.
I may hear it in a stream
Singing as it wends its way.
I may burst in song often
As beauteous joys fill my day.
When I am immersed in it
Beauty then merges with me,
And I validate myself
Having now the liberty
To create beauty myself-
To paint, to write and to love,
To release any constraint-
Thus does God release His dove.
