It's a shock just the same!
Why, some trees still have their clothing-
Old and tattered though it be.
Just last spring it was shiny new.
It has weathered much
And now does not seem to even warm
The huddled limbs.
I suppose the white stuff descending
Is a graceful coat
To insulate against
Its own cold.
The year grows old.
