The blue jay hopped into my hedge
Amid the lazily floating snow flakes
And chose a sheltered spot
Between a tree trunk and the cleft of a limb.
Safe, he peeked around
Then jumped energetically about,
Ignoring the lowered temperature
And snow.
The wind changed direction
As did the snow - and off went Ol' Blue.
I had enjoyed watching the brightly plumed bird
Ensconced in the gray green foliage -
That flash and splash of vivid colour
Had perked me up
Considerably.
