The day dawned bright and blustery
The new spring sun slipped a big wink
Through the ever-changing grey clouds
And the skies then blushed rosy pink.
A silver lining shone up high
As pinks turned to mauves and blue.
I saw the panorama change,
To a different astounding view.
As the windswept skies cleared quickly
The orange sun changed its colour
To peach and then to golden tones
Still beautiful, not quite duller.
How fast, how quickly it happened
From sublime to ordinary.
I’m grateful that I stayed to watch,
Awed to have seen the morn vary.
