Under the spreading maple boughs
I spread my blanket and sit
Feeling weariness seep from my bones
And my hard pounding headache quit.
Sun-dappled grass happily plays
Tickling my tired old toes.
Scents of wild clover and wild mint
Waft over to delight my nose.
The wild roses are now in full bloom-
Pink petals accented with white ,
Wild canaries flit through the air
Like quick golden shafts of sunlight.
Many wildflowers dot the land,
Honey bees gather their nectar,
I feel like a young child again
Taking what Nature does offer.
The singing river beckons me
Yes, my bamboo pole is ready
The bobber floats on the surface
This relaxation is heady.
