The sparkling waters slap against the shoreline
Reverberating against the little stones
Whose jewelled colours shine in the thin wetness-
A corona of the wilderness alone.
Green plant life seems to float across the surface
Creating swirling patterns constantly.
Now and then a boat zooms over the water
And fishermen come by occasionally.
A mother duck swims cautiously to this spot
As her ten ducklings bob along after her,
Dipping and ducking underneath the water
While she guards that no calamity will occur.
Nibbling at this large delicatessen
Mother and young happily pass the time
Until the waves beckon to a fairer site
Leaving me in this private spot so sublime.
