MILKWEED PURPLE
*
This purple bloom
of milkweed..
its sphere made of
108? sixpointed stars
a sphere
made of spears
like the Buddha..
1000 lives
taking him to
his own perfection

RAKING
*
Removing autumn's
blanket leaves
makes living plants beneath
faster freeze
*
CLAP OF THUNDER
*
The thunderous clap gives way
to a rain of applause
*
BUS BALLET
*
More beautiful and powerful
than water ballet
a line of parallel parked buses
swerving out in unison
and leaving in a queue
*
SHADOWING
*
In the woods the fright
from the shade of night
each tree's shadowing
until realizing one
is ever neath
the Shadow of His Wings

GRAVY IN THE GRAVE
*
Unreported murder:
A human stomach
was the turkey's grave
His blood and fat
stirred into gravy.
*
STIFLING
*
The turkey's screams
they're stifling.
Not when his corpse
is stiffening
but when with rotting
it's softening
do they begin
him stuffing.
