As he watched the
Western,
he heard the rolling thunder
of stampeding steers...
an earthshaking thunder..
and saw that the filmmakers
had caused an actual steers' stampede
in which animals were trampled
and injured..
and was reminded of the brutal
castration imposed on bulls
to make them steers..
and heard living creatures of
God referred to as 'head'
as in '900 head of cattle'
.. and watched as
others divided their lots,
selling their flesh clothes
by the pound.
...
Eleanor was 92.. and her nephew
decided she could not live by
herself.. though many in the
neighborhood felt she could.
He got a court order... put
her in a nursing home..
and began to go through her
possessions... some he took
home.. some he sold.. in a yard
sale.. as people picked through
her dreams..
and the rest he left out
on the curb.. as others
continued to divide her
lots amongst themselves.
The tree was several hundred years
old. She was an apartment building
for squirrels, and birds..
for a hive of honey bees..
When they came and axed her
.. the squirrels were hurt
as she fell.. and the mother
bird was unable to save
all of her unripewinged
babies..
They took her body to a saw mill..
and as her Spirit left the area
her remains were sent to
build nonstone houses
and as newsprint to
be imprinted
with words of war and
materialism,
words of sensuality
and the consciousness
of form alone.
