A national anthem is not sung
to the violence, greed, or lies
of the past or present
by the rulers of the people
but as homage to the heart of each person
who has ever or will ever live
in the land.
The music of the rain,
the roar of the cataract, the babbling
bubbles of the spring, the muffling
peace of snowfall,
the soothing waves of the sea,
the soughing of winds, the symphony of sunrise
birds, bees' buzzing, baby pigs guzzling are
anthems too, anthems of the Spirit
which quickens all.
