In meadows flagged
with unfurling phlox
in the county of Fairfax
unconscious ones did hunt the fox
and then ate the flanks
of captive flocks
But the world is kinder now.
(Since this poem was written the UK has banned all foxhunting
with more than 2 dogs... but in Virgnia foxhunting
continues ... described by Oscar Wilde as 'the unspeakable
in full pursuit of the inedible'
(May all royal families and Dukes of Beaufort give an example
to the world.. May Tony Blair keep
his promise to ban fox hunting)
