Zdenka Maria Besan Sharp was valedictorian of her class at the University of
Akron, a hardworking, lighthearted and compassionate woman awarded
by a Michigan humane society for her work. She was born in 1941 and
her family experienced a number of tragedies including the bombing of their
home, the loss of all their money for travel to America. She wrote of
her odyssey in a biograpy. She died of cancer in 2018. Shortly after, her
husband, a retired faculty member of the University of Michigan, was
murdered by somone breaking into their home.
