Lady MacBeth

arranged the regicide,

the pouring of poison

into the ear of the sleeping king.

Others pour poisonous gossip

into waiting ears, destroying

reputations.

How can victims who know

not what was said

give refutations.

Far worse than that are liars

willing to violate

truth for money, the destruction

of a competitor on the field of love,

for political goals and on and on,

as they pour prevarications

into other ears to accomplish

their secret agendas.
