Wood shinto shrine
carved cone of pine
but chapel longed to be
the deity in the tree.

Burning wish
broke to green flame.
The seed was freed
from temple frame
*
Up green grows
this firward fire
Tabernacle melts
in evergreen desire.
*
Now God-freed tree
longs for children.
Soon sun was spun
to new cones of pine.
*
On the tree they swing
as monasteries cling
to Fuji's sisters...
the hills of Japan.
