Anandamayi Ma a great saint in India would only eat
fruit which had fallen. She once did
obeisance to a cockroach as a way of showing her
followers that each life is sacred. Sai Baba of Shirdi said 'Never harm a snake or a scorpion. He will only
harm you if ordered to do so by God. If so ordered there is nothing you can do about it.'
