G Macrae was asked to draw a piglet between 2 pieces of bread.. and within 5 minutes he drew him. I marveled at his talent.. and then he recounted that
in his last life he had been a Jewish artist in Vienna. Over 100 were rounded up that day and forced to stand in rows as they were machinegunned to death. He said that he kept trying to slip into the back row until he realized
it was inevitable and went straight to the first row.
Footnote:
See the picture on the left. Through my fault, the clean uncluttered lines
he drew have become smudged.
