The first thing that comes to mind when i reminiscence about my grandfather is the fact that he was always willing to share a drink with anyone of his relatives, whether it be whiskey, rum or tequila, he always kept the bar at his house full to the brim with different labels and types of alcohols. Of course he was no alcoholic, he just liked to loosen up with his family and spend his time with them laughing and remembering the good memories of the past. But what always amazed me whenever i visited his house, is that in almost every room you would find at least 2 bottles of whiskey, it could be a 12 year old or 18 year old buchanan's, of course he didn´t have them in the bathroom because my grandmother would have chewed him out. But to him, it didn´t matter if if was the middle of the morning, just after lunch or in the middle of the night, he was especially good at convincing people on holidays and celebrations, but he always was in the mood for drinking with a trusty whiskey always at arms' reach. To him drinking was a way to relax you and get you to talk to him, kind of like he was your therapist, he just sat there at the table looking at you and waited for a little bit, nursing his whiskey, waiting for you to talk, either about whatever happened to you that week, or for you to consult with him about any problem you were having. After the family therapy was over he started captivating us with his stories of how he used to do things back in the day, how he helped some of his friends whenever they needed a hsoulder to lean on or some advice. of course, the best part of the week for him were the weekends, after all, it was the time for family to visit, for all of us to sit, eat, joke and jester, you could always see him with the biggest smile that he could make drinking some whiskey from the bottle that he kept in the kitchen, passing it around so that his children and their' partners could accompany him on a toast, for god blessing us with the opportunity meeting each other for another week. But of course no one ever saw the end in the Whiskey stash, it's still there to this day.
