@ 27.055 MHz: Ad Astra; A Remembrance Of Swedening, Whom I Should Have Loved, At College, 1977 [XLIX]

As if forty-seven years have vanished, I

see you---long-haired, blonde; lithe, slender; shirtless, clad

in supple dress slacks and semi-sheer socks not

often shod:  your eyes disclose "that" need; your shy

smile---provocative.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Swedening was the appellation I gave to this classmate and dormitory neighbor because of his descent from an family long resident in Stockholm.  When he disclosed to me his nature, I failed to proceed as I should have:  I was then too cowardly and inexperienced, and I feigned indifference rather than romantic interest (which I suppressed in myself).  He was tremendously kind to me---even nursing me through a week of a horrific flu that swept through the campus.  I never told him that I loved him; I never even told him I wanted to love him---because the time and place was far too prejudiced against that, and often struck punitively and vengefully against those who embraced and expressed their need to love and be loved according to their nature.  Swedening is with the Lord in Heaven; I hope to tell him, there, what I was too craven to tell him on earth.  Heaven, the throneroom of Love Who is God (1 John 4:8) is not homophobic.
